About this site
Hi, I'm Josh. Welcome to my blog ApetoApe! I'm using this as my personal sounding board to brainstorm ideas on how to level up in real life and in web3. So far, I've been lucky in my previous life with a career in investment banks and eventually leveled up to be a hedge fund manager. Then I quit that game to start a new game. Recently, I've been equally fortunate to work with companies at the cutting edge of Web3 like Symphony Digital and Animoca Brands. So in the spirit of web3.0, I want to document and share everything I learned and will be learning in my new adventures!!
Why ApetoApe?
Well, I've always viewed life as a game. A giant play-2-earn game. Man has evolved from an ape to a human and is possibly evolving into the next stage - an ape on web3/metaverse. =)
But the nature of life is still the same. We are born, choose a few games to play, and then we die.
Sounds bleak but life is actually beautiful because of the games we choose to play. Every part of life can be thought of as a game. There is the game of getting good grades in school, the game of finding love through dating, the game of making money in your career...
Most of us are blessed with the ability to choose the games we play. These games are fun because we win prizes along the way. But sometimes we forget we have the power to choose and instead are forced to play games that society tells us to play like the status game and the wealth game. But in reality, the ability to choose is our superpower and our most important skill set.
As we play the game, we trade our starting resources (time) in exchange for skills. With leveled-up skills, we become better players in the game and generate more prizes. In both real-life as well as web3, these prizes could be thought of as in-game-tokens. Society has us believe that the most important real life in-game-token is often money. But money is really just one type of token that we can win. Other equally important tokens include gratefulness, health, relationship, knowledge, free time etc etc
And there isn't really a way to "win" in the game of life. There is no magic number in your bank account that will declare that you "won". The game ends the same way for everyone. The most important thing is that we enjoy the journey of playing the game.
So I'm forever trying to 1. Choose the right games to play 2. Level up my skills in those games 3. Have fun playing
I recently started a new game. The game of Web 3.0. Welcome to watch me play and level up together. I hope to share my journey and the lessons learned with everyone here.
